They collaborated on Gainsbourg's directorial debut, Jane by Charlotte (2021), an intimate documentary film comprising interviews between the two women. Gainsbourg described about making the film: "The thing is, it could have never ended and at one point, we don’t want it to end. Although the starting point was really tough, we ended in such a sweet place where it was so easy to be together and talk...[By the end] I was asking everything that I wanted without thinking about whether they were subjects that I should avoid. Mitch Mitchell (7/9/1946, Cancer Dog), Jimi Hendrix (11/27/1942, Sagittarius Horse) : The two musicians collaborated extensively as two thirds of the band The Jimi Hendrix Experience. They had planned to continue as the Experience or as 'Jimi Hendrix', with a new bass player, before Hendrix died in 1970. Mitchell later described: "There are a lot of things that we never said. I think what it comes down to is a kind of mutual respect for each other. Musically, I’d give him a hard time, he’d give me a hard time, though it was a very compatible situation from my side. Though Jack White was usually regarded as the band's driving force before their break-up, he has emphasized Meg's critical contribution: "I would often look at her onstage and say, 'I can't believe she's up here.' Julio Cortázar (8/26/1914, Virgo Tiger), Gabriel García Márquez (3/6/1927, Pisces Rabbit) : The Colombian and Argentinian (nationalized French) novelists were close friends. Years after Cortázar's death in 1984, Márquez described: "I preferred to go on thinking of him as he undoubtedly would have wanted, with immense rejoicing that he had existed, with deep joy at having known him, and gratitude for his having left the world a body of work that may be incomplete but is as beautiful and indestructible as his memory."
