Angelou was famously prompted to begin work on her acclaimed memoir, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, by her publisher telling her an autobiography could not be serious literature. She later described: "I said, ‘Well, hmmm, maybe I’ll try it.’ The truth is that [my publisher] had talked to James Baldwin, my brother friend, and Jimmy told him that ‘if you want Maya Angelou to do something, tell her she can’t do it.’" After the memoir's publication, Baldwin said: "This testimony from a Black sister marks the beginning of a new era in the minds and hearts and lives of all Black men and women."

Martin Short (3/26/1950, Aries Tiger), Steve Martin (8/14/1945, Leo Rooster) : The two actors have collaborated multiple times, from the film Three Amigos (1986) to the TV series Only Murders in the Building (2021-). Short has described: "You know, you make movies and you’re in each other’s lives for a few months, in Yugoslavia or wherever, and then you never see each other again. But Steve and I made each other laugh, and we’re clowns, so that’s a big seductive element. That created a determination to see each other, and then have dinners, and that evolved into taking family vacations together."

John Stockton (3/26/1962, Aries Tiger), Karl Malone (7/24/1963, Leo Rabbit) : The two basketball stars formed one of the most successful duos in NBA history, sharing an 18-year playoff streak with the Utah Jazz and achieving a combined 24 All-Star appearances. Stockton described in 2022: "I felt there was something magical. [Malone] read my mind. He caught everything. He finished everything. He had all my work ethic and then some. He loved the game. Just one thing after another. Just kind of bond, bond, bond, bond to where now he is literally inseparable for me as a brother...[T]here’s nothing I wouldn’t do for Karl Malone, and I think he feels the same way."

Mikhail Gorbachev (3/2/1931, Pisces Sheep), Ronald Reagan (2/6/1911, Aquarius Pig) : The 40th US President and the eighth and final leader of the Soviet Union are credited with together ending the Cold War. In a series of meetings between 1985-1988, the two leaders agreed to a significant reduction in arms and transformed the relationship between their respective countries. The Reagan Foundation now records: "The unlikely pairing of a devoted anti-Communist advocate of capitalism with a dyed-in-the-wool Marxist resulted not only in the most significant arms reduction treaty in history, but in a permanent change in U.S.-Soviet relations. Neither country, nor the world, would ever be the same again. Mike Nichols (11/6/1931, Scorpio Sheep), Emma Thompson (4/15/1959, Aries Pig) : The actor and director/producer collaborated multiple times, including the films, The Remains of the Day (1993), Primary Colors (1998), and Wit (2001), and the TV series, Angels in America (2003). After Nichols died in 2014, Thompson described: "Working with [Nichols] was like going to an eclectic, unorthodox, and highly original university. They separated when, after completing his term as Governor of California, Schwarzenegger revealed to his family that 14 years earlier he had fathered a child with their longtime maid. Schwarzenegger has since described: "I can beat myself up as much as I want — it's not gonna change the situation. So the key thing is, how do you move forward? How do you have a great relationship with your kids? You can't go back — if I could, in reality, be Terminator, of course I would go back in time and would say, 'Arnold … no.' You know, it's always easy to be smart in hindsight. That's not the way it works."

Keegan-Michael Key (3/22/1971, Aries Pig), Jordan Peele (2/21/1979, Pisces Sheep) : The comedian/filmmaker and actor/comedian are close friends, who appeared together in the sketch comedy show, Key & Peele (2012-2015). They also collaborated on the films, Keanu (2016), and Wendell & Wild (2022). In a joint interview, Key described about their friendship: "[Peele] makes my heart giggle...There’s an ineffable quality, and sometimes it’s timing and luck that people just come across each other at a particular time in their lives. They come from similar places and they bring beautifully different perspectives." John Krasinski (10/20/1979, Libra Sheep), Emily Blunt (2/23/1983, Pisces Pig) : The two actors have been married since 2010, and have two children. They co-starred in the film, A Quiet Place (2018), which Krasinski also directed. Blunt described in 2013: "Meeting John really changed my life. They have co-starred in multiple films, including Wild at Heart (1990), Rambling Rose (1991), Citizen Ruth (1996), and Inland Empire (2006), as well as the HBO TV series, Enlightened (2011-2013). In 2023, they are set to publish their first co-written book, Honey, Baby, Mine: A Mother and Daughter Talk Life, Death, and Love (and Banana Pudding). In the documentary film, Shine a Light, Wood was asked what was Richards' best point, and he answered: "Well, he's very moral and he's very caring, unlike his image." Richards described about their playing: "I know the truth, which is like, we're both pretty lousy, but together we're better than 10 others."
