The firstwest and secondwest pairing contributes an initial wariness here—nevertheless, there is real potential for a long-term successful and close relationship, if these two can navigate the challenging intensity of the firsteast and secondeast.

Western Zodiac
Aries and Pisces
Compatibility overview
These two signs share a minor Semi-Sextile aspect, being next to each other on the zodiac wheel. This curious connection is sometimes likened to real-life “next-door neighbors”. It is easy to assume that people who inhabit similar surrounds must have lots in common, but there is much more to the story here. Indeed, possibly no semi-Sextile combination is as complex as that between firstwest and secondwest!

Because the cycle of the Western zodiac begins with Aries and ends with Pisces, probably no two adjacent signs possess such different characteristics—at least superficially—as these two.
Where Pisces tend to be dreamy, reflective and private, Aries are the zodiac's most dynamic and intense souls. The Semi-Sextile aspect is usually characterized by initial standoffishness, but these two could find themselves running in opposite directions! The respective elements of Fire (Aries) and Water (Pisces) may be a source of particular tension. Aries may see Pisces as depressingly boring and meek, while Pisces can find Aries to be bothersome attention-seekers whose priorities lack real meaning.
If this pair can be persuaded to engage more deeply with one another, however, delightful possibilities could lie in wait. Surprising as it may seem, Aries' Cardinal modality is a lovely match with Pisces' Mutable energy. The key is to tap into Aries' child-like idealism and sense of wonder. If Aries relaxes enough to share the visionary side of their character, this will resonate with Pisces' affinity for the eternal, and many inspiring ideas could spring forth.
It may be more customary to find this combination in successful professional and friendship contexts than intimate relationships. But this combination should not be discounted in any relationship, especially as the Semi-sextile connection is known for its capacity to become ever stronger over time.

Big Sean (3/25/1988, Aries Dragon), Jhené Aiko (3/16/1988, Pisces Dragon) : The rapper and singer/songwriter have been romantically involved since 2016, and have one child. As a duo, they released the album, Twenty88, in 2016. Aiko has described: "When I met Sean, I had a boyfriend and he was showing interest in me, but I was like, I have a boyfriend. But we were friends, it was never, nothing disrespectful ever happened between me and Sean. We were forced to really, really get to know each other on a friendship level, you know what I mean? And to the point where he was even at my brother's funeral. We talk to each other on a friendship level throughout all of my relationship...It just came to a point where it was like, 'I'm single, you're single, we love each other.' We actually already loved each other as people and then it was like, 'Okay, let's just, you know, be together.'"
Hayes MacArthur (4/16/1977, Aries Snake), Ali Larter (2/28/1976, Pisces Dragon) : The two actors began dating in 2005, with Larter saying in 2007 that, "I told my lover after three weeks that I wanted to marry him and that we could do it tomorrow." They eventually exchanged rings in 2007 and married in 2009. They have two children together.
Debbie Reynolds (4/1/1932, Aries Monkey), Elizabeth Taylor (2/27/1932, Pisces Monkey) : The two celebrated actors from Hollywood's Golden Age were friends in their youth. Reynolds explained: "We went to school together on the lot, when [Taylor] was in between films. I was just a beginner, and she and I were not in any manner alike, but we got along very well because I was in awe of going to school with Elizabeth Taylor." Later, they became embroiled in a love triangle, with Reynolds' husband Eddie Fisher having an affair and then marrying Taylor. However, the two women reconciled after their paths crossed on a cruise ship. Reynolds described: "I sent a note to [Taylor] and she sent a note to me in passing, and then we had dinner together...And we just said, 'Let's call it a day.' And we got smashed. And we had a great evening, and stayed friends since then." They later starred together in These Old Broads (2001), written by Reynolds' daughter, Carrie Fisher.
Leonard Nimoy (3/26/1931, Aries Sheep), Susan Bay (3/16/1943, Pisces Sheep) : The two actors were married from 1989 until Nimoy's death in 2015. According to a statement by Nimoy's rabbi after his death, "Leonard shared with me that he had never met a woman like her, never had he loved anyone so dearly and passionately, that she’d saved his life and lifted him from darkness and unhappiness in ways he never thought possible."
Eric Clapton (3/30/1945, Aries Rooster), George Harrison (2/25/1943, Pisces Sheep) : The two musicians shared a famously loyal and tumultuous friendship from the 1960s until Harrison's death in 2001. As well as their iconic collaboration on the Beatles' song, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", their work together also included several tracks on each of Harrison's landmark solo albums, All Things Must Pass (1970), and Cloud Nine (1987). Remarkably, Clapton became fixated with Harrison's wife, Pattie Boyd, during the late 1960s; Boyd divorced Harrison in 1977, and married Clapton in 1979. The two guitar-players remained friends, however, with Harrison reportedly referring to Clapton as his "husband-in-law" during Clapton's marriage to Boyd. After Harrison's death, Clapton joined with Harrison's widow, Olivia Harrison, to stage the Concert for George in 2002.
Aretha Franklin (3/25/1942, Aries Horse), Smokey Robinson (2/19/1940, Pisces Dragon) : The two legendary singer/songwriters grew up together in Detroit, and formed a lifelong friendship. After Franklin died in 2018, Robinson described: "I hear piano being played and I hear this little voice singing. I look in and there’s Aretha sitting at the piano singing and playing almost like she sang and played in her adult life. She was probably 5 years old or so and she just had it...Aretha and I were tight. We had a wonderful, wonderful friendship that lasted throughout her entire life. She was my longest friend on earth...We always had a relationship that almost had nothing to do with show business...We very seldom, when we got together, even talked about show business."
Ann Romney (4/16/1949, Aries Ox), Mitt Romney (3/12/1947, Pisces Pig) : The US politician (and 2012 Republican candidate for President) and equestrian/author/philanthropist married in 1969 and have five children together. In a 2012 speech, Ann Romney described: "I read somewhere that Mitt and I have a 'storybook marriage.' Well, in the storybooks I read, there were never long, long, rainy winter afternoons in a house with five boys screaming at once. And those storybooks never seemed to have chapters called MS or Breast Cancer...A storybook marriage? No, not at all. What Mitt Romney and I have is a real marriage."

Rabbit and Rooster
Compatibility overview
Fair warning, Chinese astrology is known to take no prisoners when it comes to combinations believed to attract challenging energy. The match between firsteast and secondeast is famously oppositional, a clash between refinement and flamboyance that can produce all manner of tensions. It's not all bad news for this pair, however. Under the right conditions, struggles can yield important benefits for this original "odd couple".

The match between Rabbit and Rooster is one of the six notorious Opposite combinations, where signs are directly opposed across the Chinese zodiac wheel. These pairings are classically associated with jarring confrontation and enduring instability.
In this case, the celebrated bravado and perseverance of the Rooster runs headlong into the Rabbit's uniquely sensitive refinement. The poor Rabbit, easily over-awed by the Rooster's in-your-face attitude, may feel endlessly wounded by apparent slights or heartlessness, causing them to run for cover at every available opportunity. The Rooster, meanwhile, is likely to feel as if they have to constantly walk on eggshells due to what they perceive as the Rabbit being thin-skinned and precious. Hence this combination can easily aggravate the weaknesses of both signs. Direct or indirect confrontations may lead to the Rooster becoming increasingly self-absorbed and brash, while the Rabbit sinks ever deeper into bouts of isolation or maudlin depression.
With Opposite matches in the Chinese zodiac, however, there is always an upside. In any joint venture, each of these two oppositional signs supplies an abundance of energy in precisely the area where the other is most lacking. Thus, if the Rabbit's aesthetic values can be channelled alongside the Rooster's enterprising spirit, there may be potentially fantastic prospects for success. Any kind of collaboration, association, even public conflict, is capable of attracting wild levels of attention. Sometimes, these two can be so different in their instincts they may tend to be dismissive of one another's successes.
With positive energy on the Western side, or highly-evolved self-knowledge, these two signs can come together in spite of everything to achieve other-worldly triumphs.

Quentin Tarantino (3/27/1963, Aries Rabbit), Spike Lee (3/20/1957, Pisces Rooster) : A feud between the two celebrated film-makers reportedly dates back to Tarantino's 1997 film, Jackie Brown, which Lee argued made gratuitous use of the N-word. Following the release of Django Unchained in 2012, Lee tweeted (using characteristic capitalization): "American Slavery Was Not A Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western. It Was A Holocaust. My Ancestors Are Slaves. Stolen From Africa. I Will Honor Them."
Les Paul (6/9/1915, Gemini Rabbit), Leo Fender (8/10/1909, Leo Rooster) : The competition between these famous inventors has been credited with inspiring the most important electric guitars in history, the Gibson Les Paul and Leo Fender's Telecaster and Stratocaster. After having an opportunity to play Fender's new sold body guitar, Les Paul reportedly told an executive at Gibson's parent company, "[I]f you don't do something, Fender will rule the world."
Maria Sharapova (4/19/1987, Aries Rabbit), Serena Williams (9/26/1981, Libra Rooster) : The intense competitiveness between these two famous former world No. 1 tennis players has been described by some as a feud. Reflecting on their on and off court relationship, Sharapova has commented, "Serena and I should be friends; we have the same passion. But we are not. I think, to some extent, we have driven each other. Maybe that’s what it takes. Only when you have that intense antagonism can you find the strength to finish her off. Who knows?"
Saul Bellow (6/10/1915, Gemini Rabbit), Philip Roth (3/19/1933, Pisces Rooster) : These famous writers shared a mutual respect, with the older and more established writer, Bellow, mentoring the younger prodigy, Roth. After Roth's last ever interview, the interviewer Asaf Galay reported that, "[Roth said] he missed arguing with [Bellow] at the table, but that Bellow was not a good friend. He said something like: 'He wouldn’t be the first guy whose companionship I’d seek out in the afterlife'."
Lauryn Hill (5/26/1975, Gemini Rabbit), Wyclef Jean (10/17/1969, Libra Rooster) : The two musicians were members of the band The Fugees and had a tumultuous affair during which both were involved with other people. In his memoir, Purpose: An Immigrant's Story, Jean describes the intense attraction between him and Hill as well as a relationship that was toxic. He writes: "You can hear the tension in the music, all of that impossible love...It was like we knew it wasn’t going to work from the start, but we couldn’t shy away...The way we related we couldn’t sustain because it was this whirlwind of creativity, this success, this performance."
50 Cent (7/6/1975, Cancer Rabbit), Jay-Z (12/4/1969, Sagittarius Rooster) : These two famous rappers have known each other for many years and were involved in a famous beef in 2009. 50 Cent has since described their relationship as strictly "business": "We are in the same business. We are not necessarily friends. We don’t call each other for no reason. It’s not like we have something against each other to make us enemies. Me and Jay will use each other. Repeatedly. For energy."

Final Words
Early in their relationship, the adjacent semi-Sextile signs firstwest and secondwest will often be all too aware of their stark differences, though this energy can in fact prove hugely promising over time. In this case, however, the near-constant combustibility of the firsteast and secondeast Chinese zodiac match provides some serious obstacles. To build and fortify this relationship, these two may need to leverage the attention-grabbing thrust of the Chinese zodiac side for mutual gain, thereby accessing the more dependable solidarity and devotion of their semi-Sextile energy.
