Taurus and Libra
Compatibility overview
There is a mysterious, yet enchanting, quality to this match. firstwest and secondwest are classically considered astrological strangers, with little connection between them at all. But this is often quite wrong. Sure, they may seem to be moving in different orbits, but these two can in fact form a harmonious and intensely inspiring relationship.

When Western signs are five steps apart, like Libra and Taurus, they share a Quincunx (or inconjunct) aspect. This 150° angle has been judged negatively in the past. Traditional astrology thought that the two signs were misaligned, and hence totally foreign to each other.
It is true that the respective elements are not very compatible. Libra's Air may be the least polarizing element of the four, but it is essentially about excitement, and complete freedom of thought and action. Taurus' Earth, by contrast, emphasizes stability, slow movement, and patient determination. Hence these two can struggle to find a happy medium between the conceptual and the practical. Libra's tendency to think about every question from every angle may overwhelm Taurus with choices, none of which speaks to the certain and gradual progress Taurus likes best. Taurus—truly the most resolute, earthiest, of all three Earth signs—may seem to Libra to be dispiritingly unshakeable in their opinions and routines. The more Libra's excitable brainstorming strikes Taurus as superficial or procrastinating, the more Libra will feel like their most interesting ideas are doomed to bounce back off a brick wall.
The weirdly magical quality of this Quincunx energy, however, is that this tension usually does not seem too serious to either party. Instead, there is often a light-hearted atmosphere of quizzical puzzlement about the differences here, which can be surprisingly delightful. Libra's Cardinal energy means they are born initiators, always beginning things with gusto, where Taurus' Fixed modality means they instinctively focus on actualizing potential into reality. Hence collaboration, at least in a hands-off way that provides plenty of freedom, can come naturally to these contrasting personalities. Creative strategies and enterprises that harness the different instincts of Libra and Taurus are especially favoured.
A measure of distance is usually important, and problems should definitely be dealt with as and when they arise. Leaving upsets unresolved can be especially destabilizing for Quincunx pairings. However, in the right circumstances, these apparently strange bedfellows can form a beautiful relationship, as pleasurable as it is encouraging and rewarding.

Harper Lee (4/28/1926, Taurus Horse), Truman Capote (9/30/1924, Libra Rat) : The celebrated authors were childhood friends and strongly influenced each other's work. Experts consider that, fulfilling a promise to each other, the character Dill in Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird is based on Capote, and the character Idabel in Capote's Other Voices, Other Rooms is based on Lee. Lee also carried out research for Capote's true-crime masterpiece, In Cold Blood, although it is thought that Lee was unhappy with Capote's scant acknowledgment of her work, which may have contributed to distance between them later in life.
Richard Donner (4/24/1930, Taurus Horse), Christopher Reeve (9/25/1952, Libra Dragon) : The director Donner memorably cast the then-unknown actor Reeves in 1978's smash-hit film Superman. Donner described: "I was brought up on Superman as a kid...When [Reeves] told his father, who was a professor at Princeton, that he was doing Superman, his father said, 'Man and Superman?' [George Bernard Shaw’s play]. That’s the world Chris came from. He came over, we did this test in costume...He was just wonderful as Clark Kent and as Superman. He really got the idea of a terribly pained individual living a dual life."
Audrey Hepburn (5/4/1929, Taurus Snake), Julie Andrews (10/1/1935, Libra Pig) : The two famous actors began their relationship embroiled in controversy. Andrews had starred in the Broadway production of My Fair Lady but was overlooked for the film role in favour of Hepburn (whose voice was overdubbed by Marni Nixon for the singing parts). At the 1965 Academy Awards, they became friends. Andrews later described: "[Hepburn said] Julie, you should have done it, but I didn't have the guts to turn it down. We were friends from then on. I don't think there was a soul who didn't love her...And my husband [Blake Edwards, who directed Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's] adored her too. I think I can honestly say if I hadn't come into his life, she might have."
Debra Winger (5/16/1955, Taurus Sheep), Arliss Howard (10/18/1954, Libra Horse) : The two actors have been married since 1996. They have one child together and each has a child from a previous relationship. Winger has described: "Nothing escapes change. So why do we think we could create such a permanent institution as marriage? It just seems inorganic if looked at that way. The intention is to stay awake, stay alive, keep loving, keep lit up, keep being able to light up the other one. Those are the real tricks. That and some pixie dust."
Burt Bacharach (5/12/1928, Taurus Dragon), Angie Dickinson (9/30/1931, Libra Sheep) : The two high-profile celebrities, actor and composer, were married from 1965 until 1980. They had one child together. Bacharach's 2013 autobiography, Anyone Who Had a Heart—which included lengthy passages written by Dickinson—described: "[T]o get the kind of adulation from a woman like [Angie] was really something. There was an intense physical attraction between us but I was also really in love with Angie. At the time, I think I was too insecure to believe that this gorgeous movie star could fall in love with me."

Snake and Pig
Compatibility overview
In contrast to the usually more equivocal teachings of the Western zodiac, Chinese astrology takes no prisoners when it comes to matches that are considered unfavourable. Sadly, the match between the firsteast and secondeast has a terrible reputation for causing conflict and stress to both parties. There is another side to the coin, however—for, unsettling as it may be, this match is also capable of producing some stunning benefits.
Snake and Pig - Relationship Horoscope

Facing each other across the Chinese zodiac wheel are six Opposite matches, one of which is the combination of the Pig and Snake. Typically for this oppositional energy, it is hard to imagine two personalities with less in common than the seductive Snake and the pure-hearted Pig.
The Snake, gloriously attractive and profoundly philosophical in outlook, can also be calculating and ethically flexible when it comes to advancing their own interests. The Pig, by contrast, is the most trusting and benevolent of all the signs—any form of guile or subterfuge typically causes them distress. Communications between these two thus tend to become inevitably fraught. The Snake may feel as if their sage advice is being ignored, their cherished talents being belittled or wasted. The Pig, on the other hand, may sense either that they are being humiliated or manipulated, or that they are powerless to protect the Snake from being wounded. The potential weaknesses of both signs may thus be magnified, with the Snake becoming envious, conniving, or judgemental, the Pig turning to self-sabotage, over-indulgence, or belligerence.
A particular site of discord for these two is finances, or really any kind of shared resources. Even when relaxed, the Snake tends to be jealously guarded about expenditure. Faced with the carefree indulgences of the Pig, the Snake may have conniptions! The poor stressed Pig, meanwhile, is apt to lose themselves to extravagance or guilt. As strange as it may seem, however, there are some powerful redeeming features to this relationship. Indeed, in terms of ultimate results, this connection can prove every bit as fruitful as the challenges are disturbing. Because each of these signs is so strong in those character traits where the other is weakest, their combined qualities as a duo forms a complete spectrum of energy. Hence any kind of collaboration or association between these two—as difficult as it may be for the Snake and Pig themselves—can be brilliantly impactful.
Even if these two signs struggle to take as much pleasure in the process as they would with other signs, joint enterprises between the Snake and Pig can prove truly, transformationally, life-changing.

Oprah Winfrey (1/29/1954, Aquarius Snake), David Letterman (4/12/1947, Aries Pig) : The pair of legendary talk show hosts shared a long-running tension, beginning with Winfrey's appearance on Late Night with David Letterman (1982-1993). After the two later reconciled, and Letterman appeared on Oprah's Next Chapter (2012—),Winfrey described: "You had asked me before to do [your show] in Chicago...and it was a terrible experience for me. The guy in the audience started yelling, ‘Get her, Dave!’ You were sort of baiting the audience, and there were a bunch of drunk guys down the front. I was trying to like, you know, mitigate the whole thing, and it felt so uncomfortable to me. I didn't want to have that experience again." Also reportedly contributing to the unease between them was Letterman leaving Winfrey with the bill at a restaurant they both happened to be visiting at the same time, Oprah refusing to acknowledge Letterman when they were in the same place, Letterman making fun of Oprah's name when he presented the 2010 Academy Awards ("Oprah? Uma [Thurman]. Uma? Oprah.").
Matthew Weiner (6/29/1965, Cancer Snake), Jon Hamm (3/10/1971, Pisces Pig) : The actor and writer/producer/director established a memorable legacy through their collaboration on the acclaimed TV show, Mad Men (2007-2017). Studio executives at AMC were apparently loath to cast Hamm in the lead role, but Weiner was adamant that he was the best choice. Hamm described later, "I auditioned about seven or eight times and I was just thinking, God, at this point, I've pretty much read every single scene in the pilot to somebody. What do I have to do?" A former SVP at AMC, Christina Wayne, described: "We were like, 'Really? This is the guy you want?' Matt [Weiner] was telling us he just knew it in his gut and he could see it."
Julie Andrews (10/1/1935, Libra Pig), Christopher Plummer (12/13/1929, Sagittarius Snake) : The two actors memorably appeared together in The Sound of Music (1965). However, Plummer was less than complimentary about both the film—which he famously called, "The Sound of Mucus"—and acting with his co-star, which he described as, "[L]ike getting hit over the head with a Valentine card."
Simon Cowell (10/7/1959, Libra Pig), Howard Stern (1/12/1954, Capricorn Snake) : The two outspoken media personalities became involved in a heated feud, after Cowell replaced Stern as a judge on America's Got Talent (2006- ) in 2015. When hackers subsequently released internal Sony emails, they apparently revealed that Cowell had lobbied to have Stern fired and to replace him. Stern reportedly said on his radio show in 2019, "Personally would I love to see Simon Cowell [expletive] suck one up his [expletive]. In other words, would I love to see him fall flat on his face...My only beef with [Cowell] is he had a campaign behind my back, which I wouldn't have known if the Koreans hadn't hacked Sony. They exposed these emails he had going, 'We can get rid of Stern and I'll work for so much cheaper.' And by the way, if I had really wanted that job, then I would've been pissed. But I just find him sleazy and he is a liar."
Denise Richards (2/17/1971, Aquarius Pig), Charlie Sheen (9/3/1965, Virgo Snake) : The two actors were married from 2002 to 2006. They had two children. Their divorce was famously acrimonious, including court proceedings and a custody dispute. Interviewed in 2022, Richards described: "The behind-the-scenes stuff was way worse than what was out there. It was really bad...There is a lot that the public doesn’t know, and you never know what goes on behind closed doors. It was not a good situation...[I asked myself, ] [w]ould I want my daughters to be married to this man? No offense to him, but it’s true. And I think he would take that, he would understand what I’m saying. ... It was very toxic."

Final Words
The Quincunx aspect between firstwest and secondwest is one of the Western zodiac’s most puzzling yet impressive influences, often spinning apparently irreconcilable differences into creative fulfillment and emotional security. The best qualities of this energy may be indispensable here, as the confrontational firsteast and secondeast match provides little calm or reassurance, instead driving both parties impatiently towards attention and success.
