Western Zodiac
Scorpio and Virgo
Compatibility overview
This is one of the most relaxed, tender-hearted connections in the Western zodiac. Other matches may seem more intense, positively or negatively, but this lovely energy offers peace, fulfilment, and dependability. Whether for hours or decades, the result is potentially a treasure for both parties.

Where signs are two steps apart in Western astrology, they form a Sextile interval. The shared energy here is famously easygoing and pleasurable, without much in the way of disturbance or pressure. This kind of influence can be especially appreciated by Scorpio and Virgo, neither of which is generally known for having a relaxed character at all.
Scorpio, of course, is one of the Western zodiac's true powerhouses, bringing passion, intensity, and determination to everything they do. But Virgo too is a highly impactful sign, virtually unparalleled in their ability to set objectives, strategize, and realize their goals. So the undemanding sympathy and tenderness of the Sextile connection may catch these two somewhat off-guard. The respective elements—Water for Scorpio and Earth for Virgo—are beautifully harmonious. All kinds of communications are thus likely to flow with surprising ease. Even thoughts that go largely unsaid can be relied on to be supportive, and sensitive to each other's needs.
Creative freedom can be somewhat elusive for Virgo, whose analytical outlook often favours regimented expression. In this breezy relationship, however, Scorpio's irrepressible creative instincts exert a liberating and encouraging influence. Scorpio, on the other hand, may find the scope and intensity of their perceptions a heavy load to bear. Virgo's solidity and methodical ways of understanding can provide a much needed steadying effect. All forms of personal and imaginative discovery are therefore favoured by this relationship.
Scorpio's productive Fixed modality forms a natural segue into the reflective Mutable modality of Virgo. Shared endeavours thus tend to progress effortlessly from inception to realization. In fact, if Virgo and Scorpio need to watch out for anything, it is that the ease of this relationship makes them underestimate its significance. Sometimes both signs may be drawn to relationships that are more complicated, indeed possibly less fulfilling, simply because they interpret more demanding energy as requiring their attention.
It would be a mistake to neglect the potential of this delightful connection, which in the right circumstances may prove one of the most inspiring and enjoyable in all of Western astrology.

Baz Luhrmann (9/17/1962, Virgo Tiger), Leonardo DiCaprio (11/11/1974, Scorpio Tiger) : The actor and director have been friends dating back to their first collaboration, Romeo + Juliet, in 1996. Speaking about casting DiCaprio in The Great Gatsby, Luhrmann described: "[DiCaprio] put me through the hoops in a really good way. It really was about working with Leonardo again and we were always trying to think of something to do and I had to wear him down. [H]onestly, I admire him for that because the thing about Leonardo, I mean he’s a friend, our families are friends, is that he looks for joy in life, but when it comes to two things, acting and the environment, he just doesn’t take it lightly."
Jamie Linden (9/3/1980, Virgo Monkey), Rachel McAdams (11/17/1978, Scorpio Horse) : The screenwriter and actor have been together since 2016 and have two children together. They have maintained almost complete privacy about their relationship. On one occasion, McAdams mentioned that, "We live such a gypsy life as actors, so [it’s great] being with someone who can be on the road as well." During the pandemic, she said their family, "[L]ive sort of out in the country, a little farm down the road, so we can go and look at the animals."
Tim Burton (8/25/1958, Virgo Dog), Winona Ryder (10/29/1971, Scorpio Pig) : The actor and director have collaborated multiple times, including on the films Beetlejuice (1988), Edward Scissorhands (1990), and Frankenweenie (2012). Ryder has famously described how at her first audition with Burton, they chatted without her knowing who he was: "I was talking to someone in the waiting room for a while, about movies and music. And then, after about 30 minutes, I was like, ‘Do you know when this Tim Burton guy is showing up because I may be in the wrong building?’, and he was like, ‘Oh, that’s me’. I had no idea that a director could be so cool and down to earth." More recently, she said: "Tim is so special to me in so many ways and I do feel like I owe my career to him in a big way because of Beetlejuice...He’s a dear friend, a brilliant guy and a brilliant film-maker....It’s been 25 years since I first met him...I’ve always had an almost telepathic relationship with him, where he just has to make a tiny movement and I know exactly what he means."
Richard Gere (8/31/1949, Virgo Ox), Julia Roberts (10/28/1967, Scorpio Sheep) : The two actors co-starred memorably in the film Pretty Woman. Roberts has described how she personally pleaded with Gere to accept the role after he turned it down several times: "I just said, 'You have to do this movie. If you don't do this movie and it falls apart and I lose this job, it would just be terrible.'" Director Garry Marshall said in 2012, "[Y]ou can fake anything in this business except chemistry. When two people kiss, the audience knows if there's chemistry or not, and Richard and Julia had great chemistry."
Blake Lively (8/25/1987, Virgo Rabbit), Ryan Reynolds (10/23/1976, Scorpio Dragon) : The two actors have been married since 2012 and have three children together. Lively has described: "[E]verything we do in life we do together. If I’m working on a movie, [Reynolds] helps me with my character; I do the same with him. Picking out a coffee table. What we’re going to eat. He’s a beautiful writer—he’s written a lot of stuff for us. And he’s got a great barometer and he knows me, so he will tell me if it’s not as good as it can be."
Adam Sandler (9/9/1966, Virgo Horse), Rob Schneider (10/31/1963, Scorpio Rabbit) : The two actors have known each other since the 1980s, and have so far collaborated on 18 movies. Asked about their relationship, Schneider described: "Thirty-something years. It’s going on our fifth decade. I think it’s making each other laugh. We still surprise each other, in how we can make each other laugh. It’s always a challenge. There’s a lot of trust. When you’re making a movie, you need to trust the people. Trust is there. You want to be around people who know you and don’t ask too many questions."
Wiz Khalifa (9/8/1987, Virgo Rabbit), Tyga (11/19/1989, Scorpio Snake) : The two rappers are friends who have collaborated multiple times. After Tyga dropped out of the 2014 Under the Influence tour, Khalifa was quoted saying: "We cool, that’s the homie, and that was just a wack move." Tyga tweeted shortly afterward, "@wizkhalifa that's my dawg 4 life." Khalifa later explained: "I wasn't really upset. That's my homie, though, and when you friends, you gotta be able to say stuff out loud like that. [We spoke about it.] He was like, bro, I definitely should have hit you up. I got a little bit busy, I didn't know how to break it to you, so I gotta apologize and man up, and we'll make it right."

Rat and Pig
Compatibility overview
The best and worst matches in the Chinese zodiac tend to hog the limelight, but the often rewarding combination of the firsteast and the secondeast fits more into the gray area in between. These two may sometimes make each other nervous, but they also have the potential to share significant mutual admiration, and can form lengthy and deeply enjoyable attachments.
Rat and Pig - Relationship Horoscope

The four Trine Families that shape compatibility in Chinese zodiac divide naturally into two streams. The Pig and the Rat are from different streams. Their respective families—which for the Pig includes the Rabbit and Sheep, and for the Rat, the Dragon and Monkey—tend to approach each other somewhat warily. But while there are some notoriously challenging matches in this larger group (such as the Pig and Monkey, or the Rat and Sheep), the Pig and Rat themselves escape the really challenging aspects of this surrounding atmosphere. In fact, they often feel profound respect and fondness for each other.
They are too of the most gregarious signs, the Pig generous to a fault and the Rat endlessly charming and fascinated by people, so in social settings they can be expected to establish rapport and friendliness quickly. They also each have a tendency to be underestimated, at least in terms of their commitment and resourcefulness. The Pig may seem lazy on occasion, but they are dynamite when the chips are down or there is an occasion they need to rise to. The Rat might seem superficial or flighty to those who do not know them well, but their insightfulness and determination can be as powerfully effective as anyone's. Hence these two can often find each other very relatable and impressive, in the way they each achieve high visibility, yet the true abundance of their talents hides in plain sight.
The underlying tensions of their dynamic are likely to surface around information or resources. The Pig is probably the most trustworthy and naive of all the Chinese zodiac signs, while the Rat may well be the cagiest. Hence the Pig could find the Rat to be frustratingly withholding or hard to read, while the Rat may be horrified by the Pig's lack of strategic guile or worldliness. The Pig also tends to be magnanimous at every turn, where the Rat is instinctively far more calculating—managing shared endeavors could prove frequently stressful for both.
Over time, it can perhaps be expected that these two will operate quite independently in the relationship, uniting now and then to share friendly banter and admiration. The prospects of success should not be discounted, though—these are two of the luckiest signs there are, and together they may attract incredible fortune and joy.

Brad Paisley (10/28/1972, Scorpio Rat), Kimberly Williams-Paisley (9/14/1971, Virgo Pig) : The musician and actor have been married since 2003 and have two children. Williams-Paisley has described how the couple commemorate each wedding anniversary by recording their "greatest hits" of the past year: "We record the meaningful moments, the best laughs. That's a big part of our relationship—focusing on the laughter and keeping a sense of play." Paisley has said: "A lot of married couples would rather do anything but spend the evening together. That's not the case in our house."
Paul Dano (6/19/1984, Gemini Rat), Zoe Kazan (9/9/1983, Virgo Pig) : The two actors have been in a relationship since 2007, and have two children. They have collaborated on the films, Meek's Cutoff (2010), Ruby Sparks (2012, written by Kazan), and Wildlife (2018, written by Dano and Kazan, and directed by Dano). In a 2012 interview, Kazan described: "You can’t pick and choose a person. It’s not ‘choose your own adventure.’ You kind of have to take the whole package. And that’s something that I’ve really felt in my relationship with Paul, and in other relationships. Loving someone wholly, loving someone for themselves, loving someone for all the parts of them is how you grow and become an adult person...[Love] becomes all about choice — choosing to love someone, choosing not to cheat on them. It becomes this long series of choices, and that’s actually where your mettle as a person is tested."
Kate Jackson (10/29/1948, Scorpio Rat), Farrah Fawcett (2/2/1947, Aquarius Pig) : The two actors co-starred memorably in the original series of Charlie's Angels (1976-1981). After Fawcett died in 2009, Jackson recalled: "[At the first Hollywood party I went to] I was almost blinded by the most gorgeous, magnificent, glorious girl about my age...I thought, ‘Oh God, I better go home and, you know, be a teacher or something.' She was so funny, and we had the best time that [first] year that she did Charlie’s Angels because we got into the habit of just sort of ad-libbing on camera and trying to make the other one laugh, or doing something unexpected...When the first year of Charlie’s Angels ended, our friendship didn’t. It just grew stronger and closer through the years...I think that is the reason the show worked. I think it’s even better than the movies because we truly cared about each other and still do. It was a pleasure and a privilege."
Emily Baldoni (10/18/1984, Libra Rat), Justin Baldoni (1/24/1984, Aquarius Pig) : The two actors have been married since 2013 and have two children. Emily Baldoni described during quarantine in 2020: "You cannot run away anymore. You can't go off to work and get distracted. You can’t go and have a coffee with a friend and get distracted. You're in it. So we're forced to look at the things that maybe before we were not willing to look at...Really what's helping us survive this without major meltdowns is that we can speak to each other, we know how to listen to each other and we've created a safe space to have these conversations."
Jeremiah Brent (11/24/1984, Sagittarius Rat), Nate Berkus (9/17/1971, Virgo Pig) : The two interior designers/television personalities married in 2014 and have two children. Brent described about their first outing, going furniture shopping: "I was sitting in a brown leather chair and we were just talking. And I remember thinking to myself, oh God, what is this? This is not what I thought it was. There was something about him that, in his presence, I just felt so safe."
Kenneth Branagh (12/10/1960, Sagittarius Rat), Emma Thompson (4/15/1959, Aries Pig) : The two actors were married from 1989 to 1995. Thompson described their early relationship by saying, "[Branagh] was incandescent with ambition and performance energy. Like two mating lobsters, we clashed claws." They collaborated on films including Henry V (1989), Dead Again (1991), and Much Ado About Nothing (1993). Their marriage ended in scandal, when Branagh began a relationship with actor Helena Bonham Carter during the making of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994). Thompson said later, "I was utterly, utterly blind to the fact that he had relationships with other women on set. What I learned was how easy it is to be blinded by your own desire to deceive yourself."
Eminem (10/17/1972, Libra Rat), Snoop Dogg (10/20/1971, Libra Pig) : The two legendary rappers have shared a longstanding close and at times competitive friendship. In 2021, Snoop apologized for comments that led Eminem to respond in his song, 'Zeus', "I’m used to people knocking me/But just not in my camp… Last thing I need is Snoop dogging me." Snoop described: "You got to understand we really love each other. So we don’t want the public to put a spin on something that’s not even that serious…. And we truly respect each other. So we wanted to get an understanding behind closed doors… We’re brothers, man...And that’s what it is when you make records with people that you love and family. It’s competitive, but it’s competitive for the right reasons to bring the best out of each other." The pair have since performed together at the Super Bowl and VMAs.

The Sextile connection between firstwest and secondwest is perhaps the most uniquely joyful and low-maintenance in the Western zodiac, offering both any-kind-of-weather reliability and belly-laughs in spades. This injects welcome lightness to the dynamic between the firsteast and secondeast in this relationship, two signs who often admire and care about each other greatly, but can also experience a sense of not being fully appreciated or understood. Overall, this is an energy matrix that bodes well for trustworthiness and humor, accentuating the highs, and smoothing quickly over the lows.
