Lewis described in 2020: "[When we met and trained together in 1983,] [t]hat was eye opening, it was a great experience for me. He taught me about boxers I’ve never seen before. He took me up to his room and pulled this white sheet down and we watched these old tapes of fighters. In accepting her Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1996, for Mighty Aphrodite (1995), Mira said, "When you give me this award you honor my father Paul Sorvino who taught me everything I know about acting."
