Aquarius Ox and Aquarius Dragon

Oprah Winfrey (1/29/1954, Aquarius Snake), Alice Walker (2/9/1944, Aquarius Monkey) : The author and iconic media personality share a close and supportive bond, arising out of Walker's book, The Color Purple (1982). Winfrey has described: "When I read the first line...I remember sitting home and I think it took my breath away literally. You know, people use that phrase. But, I could not breathe. So, after reading the first passage, the first letter...I remember closing the book and weeping, because my God, this is my story. This is my story. Somebody knows how I felt." David Lynch (1/20/1946, Aquarius Rooster), Laura Dern (2/10/1967, Aquarius Sheep) : The actor and director have worked together frequently during a relationship that has lasted over 30 years, including on the films Blue Velvet (1986) and Wild at Heart (1990), and the TV show Twin Peaks (1990-1991, 2017). After Dern awarded Lynch an honorary Oscar in 2019, she described: "[Our relationship] just gets better and better. He’s incredible! He’s everything you want him to be...[He] was holding [the Oscar] and I said, 'How do you feel?' and he goes, 'Wow, this is so pretty. But you know, we’re just lucky...I mean, Tidbit [Tidbit is a nickname that Lynch uses for Dern], they’re not our ideas. We’re just lucky if we catch them.' And I’m just like, 'Yeah, well, that’s David Lynch.' They’re not our ideas. Things move through us. We didn’t make them up. I just think that’s really beautiful."

Diane Lane (1/22/1965, Aquarius Dragon), Josh Brolin (2/12/1968, Aquarius Monkey) : The two actors were married between 2004 and 2013. They made headlines after the police were called to their home in 2004. Brolin has described their relationship as a "Richard Burton/Elizabeth Taylor existence", referring to the famously combustible celebrity couple. He said in 2018: "I loved Diane...It just wasn’t attainable, and in that hero mentality, you get exhausted, and then when you get exhausted, you get resentful, and then all that stuff comes out. So I feel bad that I didn’t have the presence of mind or the maturity or whatever to understand that early on."

Gemma Arterton (2/2/1986, Aquarius Ox), Hannah Arterton (1/26/1989, Aquarius Dragon) : The two English actors are sisters who share a supportive relationship. After a working-class upbringing in a council estate, they both graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), and have starred in multiple films and TV shows. Hannah Arterton has described: "[We used to do] routines to The Backstreet Boys and [make] our mum watch. It was unexpected that we decided to go into this weird acting thing. I think my parents thought, 'Oh, well it keeps them quiet...' ...I never thought I could really ever do it. But Gem's success... Someone from our background and our world achieving global success was just so inspiring for everyone. She had the talent, but more than that, she had the ambition. She didn't dream small."

Ellen DeGeneres (1/26/1958, Aquarius Rooster), Portia de Rossi (1/31/1973, Aquarius Rat) : These two successful entertainment figures and longtime partners married in 2008. "Portia understands me completely," DeGeneres said in 2017. "In our vows, she recited a quote — 'It is good to be loved. It is profound to be understood' — and to me, that’s everything."

Adrien Brody (4/14/1973, Aries Ox), Elsa Pataky (7/18/1976, Cancer Dragon) : The couple dated between 2006 and 2009. Pataky famously bought Brody a castle in upstate New York for his birthday. About their meeting, Brody said, "It was a miracle...The first time I saw her I was completely spellbound. I told Elsa later that I was so uncomfortable because she was so beautiful and so lovely and sweet. I became very self-conscious."

Dana Reeve (3/17/1961, Pisces Ox), Christopher Reeve (9/25/1952, Libra Dragon) : The couple—both actors and activists—were married in 1992. After Christopher Reeve was paralyzed in an accident in 1995, they founded the Reeve Foundation to treat and cure spinal cord injury. Their relationship was later chronicled in the New York Times bestseller, Somewhere in Heaven: The Remarkable Love Story of Dana and Christopher Reeve.

Alexandra Grant (4/4/1973, Aries Ox), Keanu Reeves (9/2/1964, Virgo Dragon) : The visual artist and actor have been close for many years. In 2011, they published a book together, Ode to Happiness, containing Grant's drawings and Reeves' poetic text. After they revealed they were a couple in November 2019, Grant said:" “I think every single person I knew called me in the first week of November, and that’s fascinating. But the question I’ve been asking in all of this is: 'What is the opportunity for good?'"

Gore Vidal (10/3/1925, Libra Ox), Howard Austen (1/28/1929, Aquarius Dragon) : The writer and advertiser/stage manager were partners from 1950 until Austen's death in 2003. Burr Steers, Vidal's nephew, described: "They were as close as any married couple. It was a really tight relationship. They were connected in a fundamental way. Howard took the piss out of him. He really protected Gore. Gore lost a big chunk of himself when Howard died. He couldn't really function as a person on his own."
