According to the Chinese zodiac, the pairing of Pig and Dragon exists outside the classical matches to pursue or avoid. These signs' respective Trine families—which for the Dragon includes the Monkey and Rat, and for the Pig, the Rabbit and Sheep—are not generally known for harmonious relations. Indeed, there are some troubling matches between them, such as the Pig and Monkey, or the Dragon and Rabbit.

Fortunately, however, the Dragon and Pig themselves avoid the most difficult aspects of the energy that surrounds them. In fact, the specific characteristics of these two signs can bring forth surprisingly strong synergies. The Pig's trustworthy nature is liable to be taken advantage of, so the power and confidence of the Dragon offers the Pig great reassurance. This in turn fills the Dragon with pride. The Dragon's awesome energy occasionally leaves them feeling isolated or unappreciated, and at such times the boundless generosity of the Pig can nourish and relax them. Annette O'Toole (4/1/1952, Aries Dragon), Michael McKean (10/17/1947, Libra Pig) : The actor and actor/screenwriter/comedian/musician have been married since 1999. They each have two children from a previous marriage. Their co-written song, "A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow", was nominated for an Oscar In a recent joint interview, they spoke about their love of reading together, with O'Toole describing: "Michael has a very mellifluous voice. I get up really early in the morning, so, I’m really tired by the end of the night, and his voice completely puts me to sleep, not because I’m bored, but because it’s so soothing. When we’re trying to remember who read last and he says it’s in the middle of the chapter, that means I must have read last, meaning I fell asleep."

Aaron Lohr (4/7/1976, Aries Dragon), Idina Menzel (5/30/1971, Gemini Pig) : The actor/singer and actor collaborated together in 2005, in the movie version of the Broadway production, Rent (2005), and the off-Broadway musical, See What I Wanna See (2005). They later became romantic partners, buying a house together in 2015, and marrying in 2017. Bruce Lee (11/27/1940, Sagittarius Dragon), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (4/16/1947, Aries Pig) : The basketball legend and martial artist/actor were friends and collaborators. They were to have appeared together in the film, Game of Death, which was incomplete at the time of Lee's death in 1973. Abdul-Jabbar wrote in 2022: "Bruce Lee was my friend and teacher...I first met Bruce when I was a student at UCLA looking to continue my martial arts studies...We quickly developed a friendship as well as a student-teacher relationship. He taught me the discipline and spirituality of martial arts, which was greatly responsible for me being able to play competitively in the NBA for 20 years with very few injuries."

Al Pacino (4/25/1940, Taurus Dragon), John Cazale (8/12/1935, Leo Pig) : The two actors shared a supportive friendship and were frequent collaborators, notably in The Godfather (1972), The Godfather Part II (1974), and Dog Day Afternoon (1975). Pacino said in 2022: "John Cazale, in general, was one of the great actors of our time — that time, any time. I learned so much from him. I had done a lot of theater and three films with him. He was inspiring, he just was. And he didn’t get credit for any of it. He was in five films, all Oscar-nominated films, and he was great in all of them.
