Virgo and Libra
Compatibility overview
As adjacent signs in the Western zodiac, firstwest and secondwest have traditionally had a somewhat dubious reputation. Orthodox thinking has been that they are like stereotypical real-life neighbors—respectful but nervous, and wary of getting too close. Give this relationship time, however, and the skeptics could be proved very wrong. Beneath the surface, there is ample scope for an enduring and nourishing bond.

Signs that are next to each other around the Western zodiac wheel form a Semi-Sextile interval. This connection is one of only two minor influences (with the Quincunx), which means that the energy is softer, less determinative, than with other matches. Hence from the beginning Libra and Virgo typically share a freedom that is partly liberating, and partly lacking in direction.
Semi-Sextile energy has a reputation for hesitancy and standoffishness. Certainly the elements here can be a source of ambivalence. Libra, an Air sign through and through, tends to be highly intellectual, fascinated by all things cerebral. Sometimes accused of indecisiveness, Libra's raison d'être is to leave no conceptual stone unturned. They tend to become quite cross if forced into any course of action they think is premature, or that they have not had time to reflect upon from multiple perspectives. Virgo, on the other hand, tends to espouse the values of determination, stability, and certainty that are the hallmarks of their Earth element. While they excel at organization and structure, Virgos can be uncomfortable with anything they perceive as over-thinking that might impede the steady momentum of progress. In this combination, Libra may struggle with what they perceive as the rigidity of Virgo, as if they are being locked in to ways of being that are too restrictive or narrow. Virgo, on the other hand, can find the breadth and energy of Libra's thinking disconcerting and confusing. It may seem hard for Virgo to establish the kind of firm foothold they need to make progress.
Given time to develop, however, this match has the hidden weapon of deeply compatible modalities. Libra's Cardinal energy is not surprisingly concentrated on beginnings. Libra typically loves nothing more than to brainstorm, to initiate and create. As well as being infectiously enthusiastic, they can be brilliantly original. This complements perfectly Virgo's Mutable energy, with its intrinsic concern for consequences, implications, and after-effects. Virgo's reflective approach to structure and organization can thus guide and control Libra's more effervescent brand of intellectual exploration, helping them to avoid procrastination or time-wasting. Libra's spirited and expansive mental explorations, meanwhile, can prevent Virgo becoming too dour or inflexible. Collaborations here can thus prove marvelously creative, and are likely to be successfully realized.
Some independence to counter the challenging elements will probably benefit this pairing. Libra and Virgo are both known for being moody from time to time, so conflicts could feel serious, even if they prove relatively fleeting. The great promise of this Semi-Sextile connection, though, is how it can build in strength over time. Given the time and space they need to blossom, this pairing could achieve terrific successes, and forge a very warm and dependable bond.

Jada Pinkett Smith (9/18/1971, Virgo Pig), Will Smith (9/25/1968, Libra Monkey) : The two actors have been married since 1997 and have two children together. They have attracted publicity owing to an acknowledged "open" relationship. In 2021, Will Smith was quoted as saying, "The freedoms that we’ve given one another and the unconditional support, to me, is the highest definition of love."
Leonard Bernstein (8/25/1918, Virgo Horse), Jerome Robbins (10/11/1918, Libra Horse) : Composer/conductor/pianist Bernstein and choreographer/dancer Robbins were longtime collaborators, whose work together included the musical, West Side Story (first produced on Broadway in 1957), and the ballets, Fancy Free (first produced in New York in 1944), and Dybbuk (first produced in New York in 1974). Bernstein once described, "I remember all my collaborations with Jerry in terms of one tactile bodily feeling, which is his hands on my shoulders, composing with his hands on my shoulders. This may be metaphorical but it’s the way I remember it. I can feel him standing behind me saying, yes, now just about four more beats there . . . yes, that’s it."
Justin Mikita (9/10/1985, Virgo Ox), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (10/22/1975, Libra Rabbit) : The two actors have been married since 2013, and have one child. Describing how they first met, at the gym in the early days of Ferguson's role in Modern Family (2009-2020), Ferguson said, "I was taken by how handsome he was and how sweet. I started asking questions about him, and I think he was sort of thrown off by that and ran away from me." The couple went on to launch the non-profit organization, Tie the Knot, raising money for LGBTQ causes.
Peter Falk (9/16/1927, Virgo Rabbit), Shera Danese (10/9/1949, Libra Ox) : The two actors were married from 1977 until Falk's death in 2011, from Alzheimer's. Danese appeared in Falk's iconic series, Columbo (1968–1978, 1989–2003) more than any other guest star. Falk once said about their early relationship, "[Danese] wasn’t interested. I kept at it. She conceded to a hello over a cocktail." Despite a reputation for conflict—the couple were apparently known a the "Fighting Falks", and Falk was a famous drinker and womanizer—they ultimately remained together. Danese once described: "We went through a really hard spell. I don’t know why but we didn’t agree on anything. Then, we made concessions, we accepted the bad habits of the other."
Lenny Henry (8/29/1958, Virgo Dog), Dawn French (10/11/1957, Libra Rooster) : The two British actor/comedians were married from 1984 until 2010. They had one adopted child together. Henry described about their early relationship in 2022, "I was yearning for something more substantial, but I just didn’t know what that was...A massive light bulb went off over my head. I was compelled by [French]. We talked about everything... performance, politics (my family voted Labour, but I hadn’t really connected with the whys of it until I met Dawn), family, relationships, food, the future. Even at the worst of times we used humour as sword and shield. My mind was at last tuned in, focused and functioning as an equal in a relationship. In other words, I was in love." In 2017, Henry said, "Remarkably, we seem to have shifted with relative ease from a 25-year marriage to a lasting friendship. I am amazed by us. There is no war, we’ve turned out to be the best of friends. There were lots of good years but one tricky last year."
Nick Cave (9/22/1957, Virgo Rooster), PJ Harvey (10/9/1969, Libra Rooster) : The two musicians dated in the mid-1990s, and collaborated on the recording, "Henry Lee" (1996). Cave has acknowledged their break-up as a strong influence on the acclaimed album, The Boatman's Call (1997), which marked a shift for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds away from punk rock towards more sombre, piano-based music. Cave wrote about the break-up between him and Harvey in 2019: "Deep down I suspected that drugs might have been a problem between us, but there were other things too. I still had a certain amount of work to do on my understanding of the concept of monogamy, and Polly had her own issues, I suspect, but I think at the end of the day it came down to the fact that we were both fiercely creative people, each too self-absorbed to ever be able to inhabit the same space in any truly meaningful way. We were like two lost matching suitcases, on a carousel going nowhere...[N]ever one to waste a good crisis, I set about completing The Boatman’s Call."

Dragon and Sheep
Compatibility overview
In the often polarized teachings of Eastern astrology, the match between the firsteast and secondeast is not usually classified as either very positive or very negative. While the profound differences between these two can cause some destabilizing tensions, there are also some important synergies, capable of yielding a rewarding and happy relationship.
Dragon and Sheep - Relationship Horoscope

In contrast to Western astrology, the Eastern zodiac often tends towards extremes of positivity or negativity. The combination of Dragon and Sheep, however, exists outside traditional notions of the best and worst matches.
It is true that these signs' respective Trine Families (like the elements in Western astrology)—which for the Dragon includes the Rat and Monkey, and for the Sheep the Rabbit and Pig—are not thought of as particularly harmonious. Indeed, there are some potentially disturbing combinations in this matrix (e.g., Sheep and Rat, or Dragon and Rabbit). There are, however, important affinities between Dragon and Sheep that can help them to build a successful relationship. First and foremost, the Dragon loves the limelight, while the Sheep is an artist to their bones. Hence there can be a natural synergy between the Sheep's comfortable command of abstract ideas and the Dragon's incredible talents for actualization. Also, when Sheep natives are at ease, they are quite capable of being the life of a party, and can revel in displaying their wit and charm. These talents play right into the Dragon's wheelhouse. Expect a Sheep and Dragon pairing to entertain like champions!
It must be said that there is potential for at least occasional tension. Dragon natives are typically larger than life at every hour of the day, and their instinctive methods tend towards brazen assertiveness and high-energy outbursts. The Sheep, on the other hand, can be fretful even in relatively weak cross-currents. Hence in this combination the Sheep may at times be completely overwhelmed, and the Dragon could find themselves vacillating between being overbearing and guilt-ridden. Successful partnerships may be able to offset these risks, however, through their mutual admiration, and by developing clear strategies to foster belonging and security.
In often radically different ways, these signs are both capable of pure brilliance in their chosen fields. By carving out independent spaces where they are comfortable growing in their own distinctive ways, the Dragon and Sheep may be able to unite for periods of great happiness and entertainment.

Reese Witherspoon (3/22/1976, Aries Dragon), Nicole Kidman (6/20/1967, Gemini Sheep) : The two actors are friends who co-starred in the successful series, Big Little Lies (2017-2019). Presenting Kidman with the Tribute Actress Award at the Gotham Awards in 2017, Witherspoon described: "[L]ast year, you guys, I was really lucky. I got the chance to work with [Kidman], finally. I managed also to coerce my line producer to make sure I was in the same makeup trailer with her at all times while she was getting ready so I could ask her anything I wanted to. She was captive for two hours and I asked her a lot of questions...I’ve worked in Hollywood for 25 years and I’ve never seen anyone transform so completely [into their role]...She gives you her whole heart, her whole soul, her whole body. Every side of a character. The light, the dark. She’s unwaveringly passionate. She gives of herself. She stands up for what she believes in and she pushes the envelope with every single role she takes. So there it is, now you know it. She’s a magician."
Carlos Moyá (8/27/1976, Virgo Dragon), Carolina Cerezuela (1/14/1980, Capricorn Sheep) : The professonal tennis player and Spanish actor married in 2011 and have three children together. Cerezuela has described: "For me, the success and wealth of my life has been having what I have always wanted, my family, and being able to dedicate myself to them...[Moya] is achieving wonderful professional successes, but he will tell you that his greatest achievement is always personal. He is very jealous of his privacy, very simple, you will never see him wanting to stand out or acknowledging merit. [translated from Spanish]"
Carice van Houten (9/5/1976, Virgo Dragon), Guy Pearce (10/5/1967, Libra Sheep) : The two actors have been in a relationship since around 2015. They have one child. The couple have avoided discussing their relationship publicly, but in 2016, Pearce posted photos of himself with van Houten and their child, with the caption: "Finally a nice quiet stroll out in the world."
James Coburn (8/31/1928, Virgo Dragon), Paula Murad Coburn (10/31/1955, Scorpio Sheep) : The two actors were married from 1993 until his death in 2002. Together they established the James and Paula Coburn Foundation, dedicated to improving the community through music, art and education. Speaking about their five-storey home in Beverley Hills, California, US, the designer Craig Wright said: "The house is a stage set. It's about their friends and the things they've found on their travels. It's the theater of their life."
Colin Farrell (5/31/1976, Gemini Dragon), Brendan Gleeson (3/29/1955, Aries Sheep) : The two Irish actors became good friends after they co-starred in the film, In Bruges (2008). They later collaborated in The Banshees of Inisherin (2022), with both being nominated for Academy Awards. In a joint interview, Farrell described about their first meeting: "I was sober about a year and a half or something like that...[Gleeson] said, 'Will you have a drink?’… and he went to a mini bar that looked like it hadn’t worked since the ‘50s and he opened it up and he pulled out two bottles of water and he went: ‘I have still or sparkling’. I swear to God, it was the sweetest thing. In that moment, the simplicity of that gesture told me, 'There’s a man that will look after you. There’s a man that will take care of you, there’s a man that considers people'." Gleeson said, "I’ve known a lot of kind men in my life, I’ve been lucky about that. My father was a kind man, and I knew kind friends who were there for you. I don’t find it odd but I knew immediately with [Farrell]. That’s why the friendship lasted. He’s somebody who considers people to an extraordinary degree."
Colin Friels (9/25/1952, Libra Dragon), Judy Davis (4/23/1955, Taurus Sheep) : The two Australian actors have been married since 1984 and have two children together. In 2018, Friels said, "I don't like to be sycophantic, but Judy's wonderful. She's great company, the best friend I've ever had. I love Jude. She's a bewdy."
Herbie Hancock (4/12/1940, Aries Dragon), Joni Mitchell (11/7/1943, Scorpio Sheep) : The two musicians are friends who collaborated on Mitchell's albums, Mingus (1979), and Both Sides Now (2000). Hancock's tribute album, River: The Joni Letters (2007), which comprised mostly Mitchell's compositions and to which she also contributed as a singer, was a surprise winner of the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2008. Mitchell described about their shared background: "We have the same problem from two different approaches. [Hancock] was going too far into pop and I was going too far into jazz. They accused him of commercialism and me like if you do that we're going to lose sales. [With the River album,] I guess Herbie found this challenging to do my music. Harmonically it's wide like jazz, so you got a lot of freedom for choice of notes ... but it's not within the laws of jazz." Hancock said: "[Mitchell] has the courage to express what she really feels and believes in. She's not afraid to openly voice her viewpoint on the crises of the era ... and she does it in such a beautiful and imaginative way. ... And so as a humanitarian, Joni Mitchell really reflects her belief in the dignity of human life and its relationship to our environment."
Courtney Love (7/9/1964, Cancer Dragon), Kurt Cobain (2/20/1967, Pisces Sheep) : The two celebrated rock musicians were famously married for almost two years before Cobain died in 1994. They had one child. In a 1992 interview, Love described: "[Cobain] thought I was too demanding, attention-wise. He thought I was obnoxious. I had to go out of my way to impress him."

Final Words
The minor semi-Sextile aspect often needs a head start to find its feet, so it may take a while for firstwest and secondwest to progress beyond initial nervousness to the impactful and nourishing bond they are capable of. The influence of the firsteast and secondeast on the Chinese zodiac side will likely both aid and hinder this process, contributing a blend of caring admiration with respectful distance. Given sensitivity and perseverance, however, on balance the synergies here could lead to a bond that grows ever closer over time, yielding impressive impacts and an enjoyable, reliable bond.
