Chinese Zodiac Compatibility
Rooster and Dragon
Compatibility overview
As good as it gets! Of course there is no such thing as perfection in relationships, but the combination of firsteast and secondeast is one of the six celebrated Soulmate matches, often described as the most harmonious in the Eastern zodiac.
Rooster and Dragon - Relationship Horoscope
Among the four Trine Families of signs that make up the Chinese zodiac (akin to the elements in Western astrology) are two pairs of kindred families, who generally share beneficial positive energy between them. For each sign, one member of their kindred family stands out as a unique Soulmate connection, an energy match often seen as the most precious of all. For the dashing Rooster (whose family includes the Snake and Ox), their Soulmate is the splendorous Dragon (who belongs to the same family as the Monkey and Rat).
These are two powerhouse signs, both apt in their own ways to disturb less exuberant souls with their forceful dynamism and take-no-prisoners attitude to social interaction and self-promotion. The Rooster is likely to gravitate instinctively to the dramatic, show-stopping abilities of the Dragon. The Dragon, on the other hand, will admire the Rooster's sixth sense for social currency and fashion, as well as their powerful ambition and work ethic. In the right circumstances, the prospects for mutual advancement and pleasure here are just about limitless. The relationship will tend to enhance and amplify the individual gifts of these signs, making for a duo that is as visually spectacular as it is powerfully motivated and endlessly enterprising.
These two will need plenty of room to expand together, of course. Soulmate matches can be demanding as well as harmonious. If the relationship is cramped by other allegiances, the parties may suffer the cruel disappointment of what might have been. Conversely, a bond as effortless and strong as this one can make third parties feel excluded or eclipsed.
All in all, though, if the Dragon and Rooster can carve out the space and time they need for each other, their match is a once-in-a-lifetime combination, capable of infinite rewards and a lasting legacy.

Celebrating the anniversary of the film Perez told a crowd of fans, "30 years ago, I met this man and he changed my life. And we need men like him in Hollywood. And we are doing it and we are going to take over, baby. And it takes a man like Spike Lee to help push those doors down. And I appreciate that. I am getting emotional because he literally changed my life. And I thank you."

Melia McEnery (2/1/1976, Aquarius Dragon), Eric Clapton (3/30/1945, Aries Rooster) : The legendary musician and philanthropist have been married for 18 years and have three children together. Clapton has described how before he met McEnery he suffered from addiction and used relationships with women as a form of escapism. It was clear that even though she was half my age she was capable of being an adequate partner for anybody."
John Lennon (10/9/1940, Libra Dragon), Yoko Ono (2/18/1933, Aquarius Rooster) : The famous musicians and artists were committed peace activists who married in 1969. Their intense bond has attracted controversy with many attributing the break up of the Beatles in part to their relationship. Less than three months before his murder in December 1980, Lennon described his connection with Ono in an interview: "It is a teacher-pupil relationship. That's what people don't understand. She's the teacher and I'm the pupil. I'm the famous one, the one who's supposed to know everything, but she's my teacher. She's taught me everything I [expletive] know."
Neneh Cherry (3/10/1964, Pisces Dragon), Cameron McVey (3/11/1957, Pisces Rooster) : The musicians are long term collaborators and partners of over 30 years. We’re still getting to know each other but he definitely knows my digits, you know what I mean? I think it’s a treasure to have relationships for life."
Gwen Stefani (10/03/1969, Libra Rooster), Blake Shelton (06/18/1976, Gemini Dragon) : The two singers married in 2021. They had both been involved in high-profile marriages to fellow musicians—Stefani to Gavin Rossdale, and Shelton to Miranda Lambert—when they worked together as coaches on The Voice during 2015, and began dating. They have since collaborated on multiple occasions, including the songs, "Go Ahead and Break My Heart" (2016), "You Make It Feel Like Christmas" (2017), "Nobody But You" (2020), and "Happy Anywhere" (2020). Shortly before their marriage, Stefani described: "I think there was a lot to consider when you have so many people involved. Children, and their hearts, and everybody in my family [and] his family, we all went through a lot together. So I think in a romantic way, when you fall in love so hard and so unexpectedly — and so late in your life — you think 'I want to marry you!' That's the first romantic reaction, like, 'Let's get married.' So we always talked about it, of course, and I think that as the years were going by, it didn't need to happen. There was a lot of healing to do."
Sandra Bullock (7/26/1964, Leo Dragon), Matthew McConaughey (11/4/1969, Scorpio Rooster) : The two actors dated after meeting on a movie set in 1996 and have remained close friends. Describing their relationship, Bullock has commented, "There's a great amount of respect and love. I feel very cared for by Matthew. No matter where he is in his life or where I am in mine—he could be married—I know we would stay close."
